The history of Farmina Pet Foods began in 1965, when Francesco Russo founded a factory for the production of feed for farm animals. In 1999, Francesco’s son, Angelo Russo, having estimated the potential of the dog and cat food market, decided to develop business in this segment. He began working with Farmina Pet Foods, an English company which was studying nutritional needs of dogs and cats and developing food formulations. After a little while, Angelo Russo acquired Farmina Pet Foods and completed the production cycle — from the recipe development to the ready-made product. Later, the company created its own laboratory and started collaborating with Veterinary University Federico II (Naples) and the Association of Practicing Veterinarians (SCIVAC, Italy). This allowed to conduct in-depth studies of the manufactured foods, to improve their recipes, and to create new unique products.
