According to SoyaNews, there was a slight increase in the production of pet food and pet food additives in Russia in 2023. Based on EMISS data, analysts reported that in December last year, the country produced 1,263 thousand tons of ready-made pet food for non-productive animals, which is 0.4% more than the previous month and 1% more than in December 2022. This is the highest volume in at least the last three years. However, the production growth relative to 2022 is insignificant—0.4%. Previously, in 2022, this figure was 38% compared to 2021.

SoyaNews also monitors the situation with pet food additives for non-productive animals. In December 2023, 1,382 tons of these products were produced in Russia, which is 20.7% less than the previous month and 287% more than in December 2022. Overall, in 2023, the production of this product in the country increased by 244% compared to 2022.

From January 2021, the volume of pet food additives production for non-productive animals recorded in June 2023 (217 tons) became the minimum. The maximum volume of this product was produced in August 2023—2,181 tons.
