Internet Trading Companies Association (AKIT) reported in February that online sales in 2021 in Russia surpassed last year data by 12% and reached some 3,6 trillion rubles (Euro 42 bln*). E-commerce share in total retail sales is estimated at 9,2%.

The AKIT president, Artem Sokolov, stated that the main e-commerce accelerator was not the pandemic itself, but the trust Russian citizens gained for online shopping.
Out of 3,6 trillion rubles domestic online-stores total turnover and marketplaces take up 3,1 trillion while foreign stores being about 500 bln rubles only.
Internal e-commerce increase faster (+13% annually) while cross-border sales show a 9% growth per year.
Pet product category was one of the fastest growing e-com segment. According to Data Insight, the number of online orders boosted by 105% in June, 2020 until July, 2021, while the online sales volumes increased by 73%.
