Pet products is most growing category at marketplaces

According to the Data Insight research agency, in 2020, pet supplies alongside with cosmetics and sports equipment showed the largest growth in sales on the most popular marketplaces in Russia. In the research, representatives on the five largest marketplaces: AliExpress, Goods, Ozon, Wildberries and Yandex.Market were interviewed. 96% of them stated an increase in sales in perfumes and pet supplies.

Among pet product suppliers, 71% confirm that their sales through marketplaces have increased significantly. With 25% – the sales slightly increased. The combined share of those whose sales have not changed or have declined slightly or significantly is 4%.

Pet products are also leading in the annual growth index (average sellers’ turnover growth in the category) – it was estimated at 1.62. Cosmetics (1.60) and sporting goods (1.59) are runners up.

The online survey was conducted in September 2020 amongst 2.360 companies and brands engaged in the sale and promotion of goods on online shopping platforms.
