Starting from 21st of October Rosselkhoznadzor (RSN) temporarily suspends pet food and food supplement supplies to Russia from all Bulgarian enterprises. This decision is based on unsatisfactory results of the inspection of Bulgarian enterprises, which took place on August 16–19th, 2021.
In particular, the Bulgarian side does not fully control plant raw materials, including those coming from other countries, for GMO components. The enterprises lack traceability of products at all stages of production. Certification of goods sent to the Russian Federation is carried out without laboratory confirmation of its compliance with safety regulations.
As soon as pet food manufacturers of the Republic of Bulgaria eliminate of the identified inconsistencies and provide RSN with all necessary materials and documents the resume of supplies might be raised again.
