The Bank of Russia assessed inflation pressure on pet industry

The Main department of the Bank of Russia for the city of Moscow (Central Federal District) based on data from Federal Service of State Statistics (Rosstat), announced that the cost of owning a pet has changed in Moscow within the last year.

Compared to October 2019 dry pet food cost increased by 7.8%. The main reason for the price increase was the fact that local pet food producers use imported ingredients made abroad. (And the rouble rate went down significantly since March this year).

The veterinary services market increased by 8.9% during the same period. This price rise, in particular, was caused by the cost of disinfection for premises. The price for veterinary medicines themselves grew as well – vaccines have increased in price by 3.1% over the last year.
