The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) has announced that, following the inspection of pet food manufacturing enterprises in the Kingdom of Thailand conducted from February 14 to 24, 2024, the pet food import into the Russian Federation will be prohibited starting March 18. The products from six Thai factories are under this ban. These include:
- No VCN 45 Southeast Asian Packaging and Canning Ltd;
- No VCN 38 Hi-Q Food Products Co., Ltd.;
- No VCN 39 UNICORD PUBLIC COMPANY LIMITED;
- No VCN 104 i-Tail Corporation Public Company Limited;
- No VCN 208 Botany Petcare plant;
- No VCN 99 Asian Alliance International Public Company Limited.
Pet food shipped prior to March 17, 2024, are accepted in the usual manner. Additionally, the Rosselkhoznadzor has sent a request to the competent authority of the Kingdom of Thailand, asking them to suspend certification of dog and cat food, including treats, intended for Russian recipients starting from April 18 of the current year. Exceptions are made for ornamental pets diets and food additives that are subject to registration in the EAEU territory.
Previously, the agency had restricted the import of pet food from Italy and France. Until April 1, the supply of products manufactured in Italy and France will only be possible from four enterprises.
Since January 31, 2024, Rosselkhoznadzor has restricted the import of pet food from the Serbian enterprise Farmina Pet Foods.
Furthermore, on January 31, it was revealed that Rosselkhoznadzor has paused the importation of pet food from the Italian factory of Hill’s company due to the supply of substandard products.
