The regulation about changes in circulation of veterinary medicinal products comes into force on the 1st of March, 2021.
One of the most important changes will affect the use of antimicrobial medicinal products (antibiotics). They can be prescribed to animals with clinical signs of the disease after diagnosis, as well as after surgery, if necessary. In this case, the sensitivity of the pathogen to antimicrobial agents should be determined. Prescription of antibiotics in the absence of indications for use will be prohibited.
In the prescription, the doctor will have to indicate the international nonproprietary name of the drug, and in its absence – the grouping, chemical or trade name.
Also, prescriptions should be issued when prescribing medicines containing strong and/or toxic substances, and pharmaceutical preparations.
