Milestones

zb-history Zooinform was founded on the 1st of December, 1997. Tatiana Katasonova, who still runs the company, started to publish the guide-book for cat and dog owners. The “Google” of those days so to speak – the book contained addresses and contact data of pet stores, vet clinic, pharmacies in Moscow, guidelines on feeding and caring of pets.
She organized a small team, established a company and called it Zooinform. Shortly the team faced the lack of relevant information about and for the pet industry in Russia, which had started to develop a couple of years prior.
Zooinform started to collect information about pet products, manufacturers, suppliers, retailers. News and relevant information about the events were distributed to the Russian pet business players through Zoobusiness Herald Newsletter. On paper. In envelopes.
In 1998, Tatiana accompanied by other Russian pet industry players visited Interzoo fair in Nurnberg. This is how the communicative activity started. Zooinform unites and connects people, involved in the industry.
At Interzoo Tatiana met Reinder Sterenborg, the editor of PETS International magazine. They signed a contract and Zooinform became a PIM agent for Russia. This successful partnership lasts until now – with Global PETS Community team.
Later on several more publications for business audience and consumers appeared. The b2b trade magazine “Zoobusiness in Russia” still exists. It is the only one of its kind in Russia and is read by over 10,000 readers monthly.
In 1999, Yulia Dolzhenkova joined the team. She became joint chief editor and a co-owner of Zooinform later. Today, Yulia is responsible for public relations, new projects, market overviews, international contacts and communications activities within Zooinform. She is a regular author for PETS International publications about the Russian pet market and a speaker at international conferences at Global PETS Forum Asia in China, at Zoomark in Italy and ParkZoo in Russia.
In 2000, Zooinform was an Interzoo exhibitor for the first time and since then the company is present at major international industry events: Interzoo, Zoomark, CIPS, Superzoo, Global Pet Expo, Global PETS Forum, etc.
In 2012, Zooinform joined the team of organizers of a new ParkZoo industry trade fair in Moscow, Russia. We promote the fair on the domestic market and abroad and we are proud to be a part of this great industry event.
In 2013, Zooinform went digital. We started Zooinform.ru b2b and b2v web-portal. It’s a platform where information about companies, products, news, events, laws and regulations, analytics and market statistics can be found. All the magazines are available online since then as well. So far, over 55,000 professionals visit zooinform.ru monthly.
Year 2017 saw the first edition of the Russian Pet Business Summit – the domestic industry event for business owners and top managers. Tatiana Katasonova is a curator and a moderator of the event.
2019. Zooinform made an essential decision to reinvent the company. The team created a ‘Strategy 2025’, one of the important point of which is to increase its global expansion.
2020. The first step towards that is starting the new website in English language www.zooinform.global. The platform will be focused on the Russian market, provide relevant information to international readers, to those who are interested to launch and develop their business in Russia.
