The market for pet food additives in Russia is growing

pet food additives

According to a report by the chief expert-analyst of LLC “Feedlot” about pet food additives, production and import of lysine into Russia increased in 2022. In 2023, the market is slowly but steadily returning to the levels of both volume and cost seen in 2021. Global cost trends are influencing the Russian market, which is 80% dependent on imports. Chinese companies have compensated for the decline in European amino acid production facilities, but there are not enough vitamins on the market.

In the first nine months of the current year, imports of pet food additives reached 109,000 tons, which is 25% less than the same period the previous year, aligning with 2021. Half of the vitamin imports are related to choline chloride. Additionally, there has been a 400% increase in the import of arginine, an amino acid used in the production of pet food.
