Nestle Purina Petcare plant switched to ‘green’ energy

Starting in May 2020 the Nestle Purina Petcare factory in Vorsino village in Kaluga region, Russia, is using renewable energy resources for its pet food production. During the year the factory will expend minimum 50 mln KWh of wind-generated energy. That will reduce up to 20 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year and is a part of Nestle’s global commitment to minimize the impact of production activities on the environment by 2030. The company’s partner in this project is Atomenergopromsbyt JSC, Rosatom division.

Nestle Purina Petcare pet food plant in Kaluga region of Russia was open in 2007 and it is one of the 13 largest Purina production sites in Europe. It manufactures 95% of all Purina pet food distributed in Russia and exports in 14 European countries and the CIS (former USSR). By the end of 2019, Nestle Purina invested 22 bln RRub (Euro 300 mln).
