Manitoba and Versele-Laga to stop their supplies to Russia

Laboratory monitoring by the Rosselkhoznadzor (The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision) revealed unregistered GM components in Manitoba RODITORI decorative rodents food by Manitoba s.r.l., Italy, and in Crispy Snack Fibers rodent food manufactured by Versele-Laga, Belgium. In this regard, the regulator imposes restrictions on the supply of these companies’ products to the Russian Federation.

Furthermore, the regulator appealed to the competent authorities of Italy and Belgium with a request to conduct an investigation, find out the causes of inconsistencies and strengthen control over food products which are being sent to Russia. If such violations continue, the RSN will consider to ban animal food and food additives supplies from Italy and Belgium to Russia.

Earlier in July, the regulator banned deliveries from Diamond Pet Foods plant, the pet food manufacturer located in the United States, notwithstanding the fact that all pet food supplies had been suspended since December, 2020.
